For over 40 years, Iron Man has been one of the most intriguing Marvel heroes.. Bif Bam Pow Wow Episode “Iron Man” Tom: I am an Iron Man fan. Friend’s fans and esteemed creditors welcome to another exciting installment of Bif Bam Pow Wow. I am Tom your invincible host and today we are going to take a look at Iron man. Now despite what you have heard about this new John Favro creation that is in the works. Iron man has been around for more than forty years and in many incarnations. He is probably best known as a member of the avengers, but Iron Man is a righteous super hero in his own right. He is dark, mysterious, conflicted, and one of the more intriguing marvel creations. Whether it is comic books TV series, cartoons or movies, there will always be room for iron man on my shelf. Iron man was perhaps one of the only comic book characters, excluding perhaps maybe C Montgomery Burns from the Simpsons, be inspired by the millionaires Howard Hughes. Now his fir appearance was in March 1963, in Tales of suspense number thirty nine. His mission was eventually to take on criminals and spies but he quickly widened hi scope to include communist and basically anyone ho threatened the security of America. George bush is a very big Iron man fan let me tell you. Now the iron man suit, well its kind of a long story, and this is why you got to see the movie and read the comics. I mean, that’s what we are here for right? Ok, now the suit, he needs it to kind of keep his heart beating and it also gave him special powers. Dick Cheney is also a very big Iron Man fan. Now just as the iron man character evolved through the years so to I his patented armor. Some of hi more memorable outfits include the classic red and gold, that debuted in tales of suspense number forty eight. Which eventually morphed into the preppy silver and red in the eighties, hey even armor suits need to change with the times baby. And finally we have the current and my personal favorite extremis armor. Now before you get all whooped up about the new John Favro film I have got a couple of recommendations to get you up to sped on iron man. Ok folks, it is time for my favorite part of the show, Toms picks and pans. The first thing I want to mention is iron man number one twenty eight. That is volume one people. It is the first issue of the demon in a bottle storyline. This is critical iron man. It is his history, it is what he is all about, it’s what he is known for. Demon in a bottle is where iron man I like chugging scotch at nine thirty in the morning. Trying to put on his boots a like falling over and firing off repulse ray into crowds and stuff. Oh it is so hilarious, you got to check it out, really classic iron man, it I what he is known for. They taken All those issues and collected them into a really nice trade paper back, you really should check it out. Very important. Ok, my personal favorite iron man is recent offering by write Warren Ellis who is super cool. He brought you the extremist story line. Where the suit is all updated and it like taps into tony Starks brain and he can control the armor by remote and do all sorts of cool stuff. You really should check it out. The arts good too. Extremist also collected in a trade paper back. Don’t miss it. Alright people here I what to avoid when it comes to iron man. There was a cartoon series in 1994 that was just well, awful. It is awful, it is terrible. He animation is okay, but and the dialog is just painful to listen to. God, Tony Starks mullet I bad, oh, I say just avoid it all, all together, all together. Alright all you collectors get on the edge of your seats because now I am going to tell you about tales of suspense number 39. If you are lucky enough to have this book, or if you find one, even in mediocre condition, with he cover kind beat up. Maybe a little brown. You could still probably sell his book for about anywhere from $500 to $1500 dollars. That’s what I am saying. This book is extremely hot right now because of the movie. Everybody is snatching it up left and right so, there you go. A really good condition copy, well that could go upwards of eight to ten grand. It is the first appearance of iron man, right? Aright now don’t touch that pace maker people because I have got a very special customer coming in. Mr. Davey, and he Is going to review the invincible iron man DVD. To warn john Favro ht not to do. Aright Davey take it away you got like uh, 90 seconds. Davey: Well thank Tommy. Dear john Favro I saw your excellent picture Zathura, and I got to say I think it would be perfectly impossible to direct the iron man picture. I watched this direct to DVD animated version of iron man though. It makes some mistakes that I would like to make sure you don’t fall into the same pitfalls. First of all iron mans origins. You are probably familiar with this but in the comics iron man is a character who I born out of the Vietnamese conflict. He is hero against communism. His movie transplants him to modern day china. Yeah you got to update the story, but somehow we got to make sure that he is not a hero against Asians or any sort o ethnicity. You will probably put him in the middle east. I would say avoid any stereotypes. Just a tip. Second of all, yes it has got to be updated to suit the modern day times, but there is certain elements to this character and who he is that should not be altered. This movie has iron mans father still being alive, shouldn’t be the case. Iron man should be his own person who is coming into his own. He owns his own company, he invents his own suits ,everything about him is original. Having his father still alive is not as important as maybe giving Bruce Wayne parents alive or Peter Parkers uncle Ben alive, but I still think that is a change which is unnecessary here. Third of all, tying into that, I know I can relate to being a billionaire industrialist. Many people may not be able to; I am just saying that we keep him grounded and fairly relatable. Finally, the animation in this is pretty terrible. I have seen Robert Downey Junior live and in person, he is much more animated than this movie ever will be, so you are already on good track right there. So in conclusion, I am just hoping that you can make the bet possible picture. Signed a friend of the fans, Davey Sohl. Tom: Awesome, I hope you got all of this notes there Mister Favro, alright you listening? Very special thanks to you my friend Mr. Davey, good work. Alright I got to go now, but first some parting word s of wisdom courtesy of tony Stark. They say the bet weapon is one you never have to use. I say the bet weapon is one you only have to use once.
