gOD is a heart-felt and quirky solo based on the controversial poem of the same title written by choreographer Pascal Rekoert. Recited as a series of contemporary conversations of God with mankind, the poem reflects current concerns and feelings about conflict and resolution. "Mankind has reached a point in evolution when it is time to dismantle the walls, time to take apart the boxes, time to remove the limitations, time to step into the Light and experience God - One on One." Performed by a woman, the movement idiom of the piece explores harsh disjointedness as a vocabulary to express the separation and isolation occurring amongst people and uses the lack of softness as a commentary on the lack of nurturing and compassion in the world today. This piece challenges both the viewer's iconoclastic images of God and the various permutations of the central message of all religions - LOVE.
