He said, however, that no further talks are in the works and that the Tibetan people would be unwilling to make concessions to facilitate such a process. The Dalai Lama explained this by saying that his people had become refugees and had little left to concede. The talks are taking place despite heavy criticism emanating from Beijing. Chinese officials have accused the Dalai Lama of inciting the protests, some of which turned violent, that have been ongoing in Tibet since March 10.
