J.D. (Zach Braff) and his best friend Turk (Donald Faison) begin their first day as interns at Sacred Heart Hospital. J.D. does his first night on-call, and realizes that Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) is much nicer and more helpful than Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins). J.D. meets a fellow medical intern named Elliot (Sarah Chalke) who he wants to ask out. He is angry because Turk is a surgical doctor and J.D. is a medical doctor and Turk seems to be more confident than him. Turk comes in contact with a friendly nurse, Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes). J.D. meets a not so nice Janitor (Neil Flynn). (less)
