Public Services - Shively KY The city of Shively operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. We have a forward thinking administration, which has led Shively into a new age of growth and sustained the quality of services provided to our community. Our city is proudly served and protected by the Shively Police Department. It maintains 28 sworn officers and 11 non-sworn personnel, which includes a chief of police, deputy chief, three lieutenants, three sergeants, three detectives and 17 uniformed officers. The Shively Fire Department employs 20 full-time paid, professional firemen, who operate 24 hours a day. They provide the community with protection and inspection services, medical response with AED capabilities, free smoke detector, batteries and installation, free home safety inspection and low cost CPR classes and first aid instruction.
