To take his mind of things, Turk brings J.D. along with him to a medical convention in Phoenix. Elliot is excited about the wedding, getting everything ready so that she can get married on her preferred date, which is only 2 months away. Dr. Cox refuses to come to her wedding. In Phoenix, Kelso and his posse of Chiefs-of-Medicine arrive to party like they do every year. J.D. and Turk meet "Old Young MC" whose "Bust-a-move" novelty wears off after a while. They get yelled at by Kelso that they should be attending lectures and so forth, so they attend a lecture on prostate cancer. Kim Briggs is the lecturer. Meanwhile, Elliot is trying to get Dr. Cox to agree to come to her wedding by holding out on equipment that he needs for a patient. He talks to her about how she's just settling for Keith because she wants to be married so badly, which makes her question her wedding and ask Carla and Jordan for advice. Things go from bad to worse as Elliot starts freaking out over every little wedding thing. After the lecture, J.D. and Turk see Kim step out from behind the podium and she's very pregnant. J.D. asks in front of everyone why he told her she had miscarried, and then Turk raises his hand and asks her to answer J.D.'s question. Kim and J.D. talk in private about how she was scared and thought they were staying together only because of her pregnancy and so forth. J.D. is very upset. She has to go give another lecture but asks him to wait for her. He and Turk eventually leave without talking to her. Elliot is still having doubts about the wedding even after Dr. Cox comforts her about what he said before and Keith is still in love with her after she yelled at him. She asks J.D. whether or not she should be marrying Keith, just as Kim walks in asking why he didn't wait for her. Throughout the whole episode, the janitor is pretending to be the chief of medicine while Kelso is gone, with Ted following him around and helping him. He actually makes a few changes for the better before Kelso gets back, who couldn't be angrier with him.
