Carly Fiorina, one of John McCain's economic advisors, blatantly contradicted John McCain's previous position on President Bush's disastrous 2001 tax cuts. Ms. Fiorina responded to a challenge from an MSNBC anchor David Schuster "Wait a second. [McCain] was against the bush tax cuts then. In favor of comprehensive immigration reform. Two key issues where he has flip-flopped." Fiorina ardently responded, "Actually, NO. He was against the Bush tax cuts in 2000 because he said they were not accompanied by spending restraint." Well actually, NO. McCain said at the time, "I voted against the tax cut, I voted against it because I didn't think that there was sufficient relief for working Americans." There was no mention of opposing Bush's tax cuts because of no "spending restraint." It's just not true.
