這首歌是選自巴哈的第一百四十七號清唱劇，全名爲《心、口、行爲與生命》，作于1723年。 《心、口、行爲與生命》又簡稱為《心與口》是在每年七月二日聖母瑪利亞訪問慶日時演唱的清唱劇，曲中交替吹響小號和雙簧管的管弦樂，為這作品帶來亮麗的節慶色彩。一七一六年巴哈在威瑪任職時，就著手為將臨節第四禮拜日的禮拜譜寫一首教會清唱劇。後來他因未能謀得萊比錫合唱長的職位，變得失魂落魄，就中斷了這清唱劇的作曲，當時的作詞者是沙羅蒙。法蘭克。巴哈到萊比錫任職後才曉得這個慶日習慣上是不演奏將臨期清唱劇，於是他決定把原曲改寫成聖母瑪利亞訪問慶日的清唱劇，同時聖詠合唱被調換了，而法蘭克的詞也增加新句子，但改作的詩人不詳。...
