Five years after the tragic events of September 11th, how should the nation remember the event? And is it too early to build a memorial in downtown Manhattan? Joining Steve Gillon in the studio is James Young, professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and author of the forthcoming book,Memory at Ground Zero. Prof. Young was part of the jury that chose the winning design of the 9/11 memorial. In the aftermath of September 11th, nearly two million tons of debris from the Twin Towers was taken to a landfill site on Staten Island called Fresh Kills. The rubble from the World Trade Center covers hundreds of acres. Steve Gillon visits the New York State Museum, which displays many of the artifacts recovered from Fresh Kills. He also visits the off-site storage facility to get an exclusive look at some of the larger items not on public display.
