Farmers from around North Dakota gathered on the state Capitol grounds to sell their fresh fruits and vegetables. Once a year, the farmers market is held at the Capitol and many state workers take a moment to buy some fresh produce. Clemma Basaraba of Wilton sells vine-ripened tomatoes for two-dollars a pound. She says she picked about 12-hundred pounds of tomatoes this time around to sell at farmers markets...and business has been quite good. (Clemma Basaraba, Wilton Farmer) A lot of the grocery stores...I think a lot of their vegetables are from out of state or even out of country. And they get them...and we have to participate against them because they get them so much cheaper than we can sell it for. So I definitely think that farmers market has the home-grown, locally-grown stuff and that's what's good.
