The FBI is hot on the trail of a bank robber wearing in an unusual disguise. He hit a downtown bank in Boston, dressed as a fireman. The guy dressed like a firefighter turned heads as he entered the bank. So much for blending in. Ken MacLeod reports.

Video shows crutch-leaning gun-wielding bank robber Posted: Jan 16, 2008 08:44 PM EST ALBUQUERQUE - The FBI this afternoon released surveillance video of the so-called Crutch Bandit waving and shooting a pistol as he held up a bank on Tuesday. The man, clad like a ninja and hobbling on a crutch, hit a Bank of Albuquerque branch in the Northeast Heights. He was armed with a semiautomatic pistol and wasn't afraid to show it or use it. He fired several shots, but no one was hit. The FBI said it hoped that by showing the video and especially by posting the robber's picture on electronic billboards beside major roads someone will recognize him and turn him in. "Hopefully we'll be able to reach a couple of hundred thousand commuters over the next several days," FBI Special Agent Darrin Jones said. The Crutch Bandit is described as a thin Asian man, 25-35 years old, approximately 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the bank robber's arrest.
