Cases of kidnappings are on the rise in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, as a Spanish businessman was kidnapped on Wednesday (July 02), while authorities and relatives confirm that an Italian restauranteur was snatched at the beginning of June. State authorities are investigating the kidnapping Spain's Manuel Horacio Rodriguez Diaz, who sold construction materials. He was abducted by a group of armed men at dawn while exercising in the park "El Tequio," south of Oaxaca city. Diaz's bodyguard was shot dead. The state Attorney General's office, who is carrying out the investigation, found eight 9mm calibre bullet shells as forensic scientists and legal experts arrived at the scene of the crime. Another bodyguard, Constantino Eladio Martinez, was injured during the attack after receiving blows to the head and face.
