March 8, 2007 Pierre Donais speaks with Elizabeth May , leader of the Green Party of Canada. Elizabeth May has been interested in environmental issues for over 40 years. Her social activism was instilled in her by her mother, who opposed the Vietnam war and went on a hunger strike in protest over nuclear testing. She was just 25 years old when she founded the Small Party, considered the first environmental political party in North America. Ms. May was elected leader of the Green Party of Canada on August 25, 2006.
