Sparks NV - In 1978, the Sparks Redevelopment Agency was established and the Town Center Project was their first priority. They started by making improvements along Victorian Avenue (then named B Street). They mast planned a public entertainment place for downtown. Since then, it’s been one project after another to make downtown Sparks the best it can be. The late 1980’s brought a reduction in the number of traffic lanes and the speed zone on Victorian Avenue to slow traffic and make the streets more pedestrian friendly. Street-side parking was enhanced, a 420-space parking garage was built and a Victorian-style event plaza was built. Since then, Victorian Square has become the Flag Ship for the City’s Redevelopment Agency. Throughout the 1990’s, Victorian Square was enhanced with a 14 screen state-of-the-art movie theater Complex, a 702-space Victorian-themed parking garage, One Million Dollar interactive fountain, plaza and a town clock.
