Businesses and homes have been a recent target for copper and brass thieves, leaving workers and residents without running water or air conditioning. WESH 2's Greg Fox reported that a string of metal burglaries overnight meant some business owners couldn't open their doors on Saturday. Police said that one of the metal thefts caused a flood of water to gush from the Calvary Chapel on South Orange Avenues when the thieves took the building's water control equipment. The same problem occurred at Shannon's Café. Police said thieves took the water control equipment from three different businesses and the church.
