This video shows the crash. Later on we booted the MacBook Pro in single user mode (Apple + S while booting). We noticed the horrible security defaults to throw you into a root shell with unrestricted privileges! Anyway,then we ran the script to complete the boot process manually (sh /etc/rc), and saw a kernel panic! The stack trace showed to blame was the Atheros driver -- yes, you read right, some new MacBook Pros now come with Atheros instead of just Broadcom wireless chipsets. Apple chose not to enable debugging symbols on the stack trace, which I suppose makes sense as its a generic kernel and *they* probably do have the mappings somewhere in apple-hq.
