Five women were arrested in connection with an armed carjacking and police pursuit on Wednesday, authorities said. Police said the women tried to carjack an SUV at Interstate 435 and West 87th Street in Lenexa, Kan. "For a woman to commit a carjacking, while not completely out of the question, is unusual," Sgt. Dave Ogilvy told KMBC's Jim Flink. Ogilvy said the suspects broke the driver's window and flashed a gun. The driver fought with the carjackers and was injured in the struggle over the gun. The victim escaped into a nearby Taco Bell as the suspects fled. Shawnee police spotted their getaway truck and pursued. The chase crossed the state line and ended in Harlem, which is just east of the downtown Kansas City airport. Four adults and one juvenile were taken into custody. (less)
