04-05-2007 READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. An FBI agent has died following a shooting in Readington Township. The officer was said to be shot by suspects wanted in connection to multiple bank robberies in the area. Agents have at least two suspects in custody, as dozens of police, FBI, and Homeland Security vehicles were on the scene of the shooting, which apparently occurred shortly before noon during the robbery of a PNC Bank off westbound Route 22 in Hunterdon County. A third suspect fled the scene and was still at large. Sources say the suspects may be part of a group wanted for a series of violent bank robberies in Piscataway, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, and Ocean Township. The suspects were said to be heavily armed. A black sedan in a parking lot on the eastbound side of Route 22 with the driver's side window broken entirely. A puddle of what appeared to be blood could be seen just feet from the back end of the car.
